Background & Challenges

Fairholme School had first worked with School Website back in 2004 to produce their first ever website. By 2009 the school felt it was time to move away from the existing child-friendly website and embrace something a little bit more grown-up as well as utilising the School Website Content Management. The school’s motto of “We Believe We Can Achieve” was actually dreamt up by a pupil so they were keen to make photos of the children the focal point of the site. Fairholme School were also keen to make more use of their school colours of black and orange.

Solutions & Benefits

Often primary school websites can be quite bright and use a lot of primary colours. Seizing on the school colours, we felt a predominantly black design would be a unique approach and the school agreed. The use of the orange elsewhere, along with the fun font, lends a visual flair to the site. A pupil-centric image illustrates each section of the website and there are some good examples across the site of CMS features being used to their full potential (the calendar and the photo gallery especially).
